Young Fashion Disrupters

15th February 2015 by Keabetswe Meka

It’s become very apparent that we look up to the older generation for styling tips and fashion advice. Mainly we always look up to the celebrities that are in the public eye because social media shove it down our throats on a day to day basis.

The question we asked ourselves is 'Do we have to look at older people (usually between their 20's and 30's) as style icons?'. This article is going to show and prove that we don't have to look for inspiration from the older generation for fashion tips. What DuFashion is going to demonstrate is that we can just look amongst our celebrity peers or even our youths for motivation. Here are 10 of the finest Young Fashion Disruptors.

1. Mason Disick

Young Mason Disick is an unconventional icon to some as he may be seen as too young to understand what fashion is. However you can't fault the kids style, he can outdress the vast majority of us and he's only 5 years old.

2. Brooklyn Beckham

Not only is Brooklyn an aspriring footballer currently playing in Arsenal's youth system. Brooklyn has inherited David's good looks and it seems like their fashion trends are almost identical. This is a great example of the phrase 'The apple doesn't fall from the tree' as he is almost a carbon copy of David. He has some big boots to fill but it seems like he's going the right way about it.

3. Chloe Moretz

Brooklyn Beckham's girlfriend and a sweet-heart actress that has been on our screens for what feels like forever has really grown into her own style. You may know her from films such as Kick- Ass, Carrie and (500) Days of Summer, Chloe is what some may see as a person who dresses

conservatively and this is to maintain her 'good girl' image. She is a perfect example of dressing elegantly and standing out whislt doing so.

4. Harry Styles

One Direction's very own has made it into our list and he's one that passes with flying colours. From the days of X Factor he's always been one to hang around in the background however since their recent success he has really made a name for himself. He has adopted this scruffy Russell Brand-like type of style and has added his own twist to which really suits him. Who would have thought it? When young Harry went into his first audition that a few years later he would be seen as a fashionista around the world?

5. Jaden Pinkett-Smith

Heir to the Fresh Prince's throne, Jaden has developed his own quirky style which to others perspectives may be seen as 'New Black'. Jaden doesn't enslave himself to the social conforms of life whereby a black kid should dress in a certain type of way. Expression is what the new culture of any 90's babies and Jaden a great example of this. The Karate Kid is making huge statements for our generation of black youths. Time's are changing and so are we.

6. Kylie Jenner

Of course the list couldn't bare without someone from the Kardashian blood making an appearance. Kylie is somewhat a guru amoung teens and shown in the pictures above they wouldn't be wrong in thinking so. Unlike Kim, she has a very natural bodyshape so copying her style doesn't have to be a daunting thing for ladies. At least you can copy some of her trends without worrying about how big your bum looks. Work with what god gave you, Kylie has so why shouldn't you?

7. Romeo Beckham

Another Beckham has made the list and rightfully so. After his very succesful Burberry campaign in Autumn '14, he stamped his mark in fashion world. A lightheart, polite young man, it looks like Victoria & David have crafted Romeo into acting and looking like a gentleman.

8. Kendall Jenner

Being fashion conscious is a common theme in the Jenner family. Kendall is deep into the industry as she is one of the biggest Social Media Models of our day and age. Also she has been spotted doing cameo apperances at a lot of runway shows and even taking to the catwalk at Fashion week for such labels as; Donna Karan, Givenchy, Chanel, Ports 1961 and Sonia Rykiel.

9. Alonso Mateo

This one is an obcsure one as he is not your conventional celebrity youth. Alonso is a Instagram celeb and you've probably seen him a few times on your timeline at one point. It isn't a myth that this kid has style, every aspect of his life revolves around fashion and Mr. Mateo is one to be looked out for.

10. Azealia Banks

Azealia Banks is a charecter many are still yet to figure out, after her recent media outbursts about fellow artist Iggy Azelia some may say the industry have blackballed her. However the fashion industry still welcome her with open arms as they see her as the new poster girl. Bank's distinctive style is very hipster and a lot of her influences are from the 80's. She is an icon in her own right and another one (Like Pinkett-Smith) doesn't fall into the traps of 'dressing black'.

So as you can see from the Disick's, Jenners, Beckhams and Pinkett Smiths, you don't have to look at the first generation to get inspiration fashionwise. You can draw inspiration from the second generation of celebrities and for all you know they can grow up to be bigger icons than their parents. The lesson we want you to draw from this article is that in anything you do (such as; fashion, relationships, photography, sport, music or in your careers), don't limit yourself and don't create mental boundaries. Be open-minded and you may find that what you're looking for may be right in front of you.
