Are you team beard? what’s your opinion on the recent beard craze?
The beard population has been increasing rapidly, move over to all the clean shaven men, the rough edgy bearded men are arriving. Women are hiding their mens razors going crazy for these bearded men, but many of us are asking the question, why?
Recently it has become “Peak beard” with the trend reaching its climax, with professions which are not normally associated with a bristly chin, such as film stars like George Clooney, Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd turning up to Baftas in march supporting the facial hair craze with their new beards.
Beards are just seen as part of the fashion, but with fashion there is always an influence, so what, or who has influenced these beards, is it celebs such as Dan Bilzerian the famous American actor and poker player, influencing young men with his gangster lifestyle of guns and women? or is it to make some men appear more masculine or possibly macho? Well i decided to find out...
Chloe from Leeds who says she is “Defiantly team beard as it’s the more mature look, and makes men look more manly, with all the trend of longer hair and the ‘top knot’ style” she says her ‘boyfriend grew his beard because of the trend and wanted to see what it was like, and now
loves it and would never shave it off.”
Jason Woods, 24, from Newcastle a former beard lover and grower believes that “facial hair in general has become much more socially acceptable in regards to work places, pushing the boundary from stubble to growing a full beard is less of a big deal.”
Making him feel “much more confident with a beard as apposed to baby faced” Also saying he knows “a lot of bearded guys who would agree.”
He also gave his opinion on how his beard is with the women saying that “If you were to ask women what was more attractive the majority would probably prefer me with stubble. On the other hand I've met a few die hard beard lovers who can't get enough of it. Ha”
On the other hand i did speak to some other girls that were not a fan of the beard; “some men just can’t pull it off” said Rosie Jones from Halifax, “they just look stupid and i couldn’t deal with it if i was to kiss a man with a long one” she said, giving a totally different view to the look.
I also wanted to find out what sorts of products were available for men’s beards, seeing what sorts of tips there are, to get your beard, longer, thicker and stronger, so i took a look into what is going to stop you and your beard looking, well, scruffy and more like a well groomed gentleman...
